Can anyone help with rash, and facial swelling?

My son has a very red, raised rash on his face. His face is also swelled. It started on Friday October 5, and I took him too the hospital very early in the morning on the 6th. The doctor said it was a food allergy, and put him on pregnosone. The swelling isn't any better, and the redness seems to be spreading. Can anyone give me an idea of whether this could be something else?Can anyone help with rash, and facial swelling?
This may sound silly but when i was a kid my sis ate a leaf yes a leaf!! her face swelled and it went down a week or so later!! But everyone thought it was allergy to food!! No one asked me so i didn't tell!!Can anyone help with rash, and facial swelling?

I realise this was a while ago but I wondered what the outcome of this was? I have exactly the same symptoms and have seen four different doctors in the last 24 hours. None of them have been able to diagnose me.

it could also be a reaction to something environmental...any new soaps or detergents? it's bee season where i live, could he have been stung? any construction around the house? allergies to dust, sheetrock, etc? have you tried a pain antihistamine like benadryl? monitor his breathing...if his breathing starts to be affected take him to the hospital immediately, the reaction could put him into anaphalactic shock and he may need epinephrine. hope some of this has helped and i hope he feels better soon!!!
